Maine Third-Party Code Inspections
Are building a new residential or commercial building in Maine? Or prehaps your adding onto your home? Did you know Maine certifies Third-Party Code Inspectors? If not keep reading to learn more.
Under Maine law residents have two options when it comes to code inspections those include going through the local code enforcement (if your town has one) or by hiring a Third-Party Code Inspector certified in that field. Those of us certified to do inspections have either passed the Maine state code test or have been ICC certified and licensed through that process. We can perform all inspections within our scope of authority including for us Residential, Commercial Building code, Residential and Commercial Ventilation and Energy Code and Radon Code Inspections. We are not authorizeed to do plumbing, electrical or new septic inspections under Maine law only local plumbing inspectors can do plumbing and septic new installs and Master electricians or local code enforcement can do electrical inspections.
How does hiring us to perform your code insepction help you?
We offer inspections 7 days per week, written reports, and can sign off often times days earlier than local code enforcement in many areas or even save you time from waiting for a code enforcement from a neighboring town for those towns without a code enforcement officer. We charge a $400 fee per inspection and for commercial buildings its $400 + $0.10 cents per square foot.
Residential Code Inspections
All of our inspectors certified by the State of Maine are certified to inspect Residential Buildigns for code compliance for new construction, additions, etc. We can not perform plumbing or new installation septic system insepctions these are required by DHHS to be performed by your local plumbing inspector.
Commercial Code Inspections
Commercial buildings carry a lot of variants from residential construction and here at Eastern Inspection Services we understand that. All of our inspectors are certified to perform commercial building inspections for annual inspections, real estate transactions and even Code Inspections in Maine as Third-Party Inspectors.
Radon Code Inspections
We perform new radon mitigation code inspections throughout the state. While we do not perform radon testing ourselves we can give you a list of state licensed companies. All code inspections are done by a Maine Certified Third-Party Code Inspector.
